This was a great project to be involved in with a fantastic customer. We started with a demo at our Oxfordshire showroom to go through the various systems. Trackman io ceiling based launch monitor was the choice tracking device for this golf simulator. The customer got to work with increasing the double garage ceiling height with his builders. Neil, our project manager was fully involved as the customer wanted the Benq 4K LK954ST projector and we wanted to maximise the height of the garage so we could go full image width. The slight issue is the wall behind the screen position has the roof sloping forward too. So not only did we have side wall sloping in from the sides, but also the front and rear. The key here was we didn’t want to compromise in the screen size so we adapted our trim kit in the corners so we could get the natural 16:9 ratio to fit exactly.
Cream coloured upholstered wall panels were chosen and we used our CAD system so we could get them to fit the room shape required. All our panels are professional manufactured off site so its important to get the shapes and dimensions exactly right and that’s where CAD comes in. We also use a clever fixing system which means the panels can easily be removed, but are totally secure when in place.
Two 43″ touchscreen monitors were specified and as a finished wall was going to be built over the garage pillar columns that protrude we opted to recess them around the central column for that cleaner look. Our fan cooled pc cabinet in grey to keep the PC with 4080 super graphics card nice and cool along with any other devices the customer might want to plug and play like a games console or tv receiver.
We installed Sky go onto the pc and installed a full sonos system with arc, sub and two rear speakers. This allows the customer to watch Sky Go on the big screen or on the left hand monitor. Ideal if you want to play golf whilst watching Sky Sports! Use of the roller garage door was a requirment so we needed to work cleverly around this. The sonos rear speakers are hidden down the side of the garage door runners.
IDS Swing analysis cameras along with our floodlights were also installed. The Trakman analysis system is world class and something not to be missed out on. The rear camera sits on a tripod inside the pc cabinet so can be positioned in front of the roller garage door when required.
Finally Huxley golf installed their world class turf. Black for surround and premier Tee Turf Two for the stance/hitting area.
This is a fantastic Golf simulator setup and you would never know from the outside looking at the double garage what is inside. It certainly doesn’t feel like a garage from the inside!
